  • Lab Project Engineer – Co. Waterford

    Role Summary:


    • An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Project Engineer at our client’s biopharmaceutical facility in Co. Waterford.
    • The purpose of the role is to provide project engineering support for 2 large laboratories, Technical Development and QA/QC, currently in design for the company’s new Drug Substance facility.
    • The role requires full time site attendance (no remote working).


    Core Duties and Responsibilities:


    • Provide project engineering for both labs including responsibility for the following areas:
    • Equipment Specification / Procurement
      • Defining equipment needs with end users
      • Specification and procurement of equipment in conjunction with lab SMEs: Liaising with internal procurement functions and with vendors
    • Multi-discipline design
      • Ensuring layouts and design meet end user needs – (this should be fairly fixed by the time of onboarding).
      • Ensuring equipment utility needs and requirements are adequately captured in the issued design
    • Understanding of equipment introduction documentation lifecycle (CQV)
      • Role is not the C&Q engineer but there will be co-ordination of this effort in preparation for and execution of site works
    • General co-ordination re safety, budget, schedule, scope for the laboratory equipment
      • Detailed planning for equipment procurement/relocation (some items are existing and need to be transitioned to the new labs), utility connection, vendor attendance, C&Q documentation.


    Qualifications and Experience:


    • Degree in Engineering discipline like Chemical/Process Engineering or related Qualification
    • Minimum 4-5 years experience of Project Engineering with relevant experience in Equipment specification / procurement preferably in a pharmaceutical environment.
    • C&Q experience, understanding of the documentation lifecycle for qualified equipment
    • Having worked with or for a multi-disciplinary design team, with a good understanding of the various design needs for the lab equipment.
    • Laboratory equipment / Drug Substance experience would be a benefit
