Role Summary:

  • Our client, a food & beverage manufacturer, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Projects Manager for its manufacturing and innovation facility based in Co. Wexford.
  • The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a large-scale, confidential capital expansion project within its facility. The role will provide overall leadership, governance, and coordination of multiple stakeholders to ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and quality requirements.
  • This is a high-profile role requiring strong leadership, technical understanding of process plant projects, and proven experience managing complex capital investments in regulated manufacturing environments.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership and Delivery
    • Lead the planning, execution, and close-out of a >€100MM capital project from design through to commissioning and handover
    • Act as the client’s representative, managing EPC/EPCM contractors, consultants, and vendors
    • Establish and maintain clear project governance, reporting structures, and decision-making processes
    • Ensure alignment with business objectives, operational needs, and long-term asset strategy
  • Engineering and Design Oversight
    • Oversee the progress and quality of Detailed Design deliverables produced by the EPCM contractor
    • Ensure that process, mechanical, electrical, automation, and civil designs meet operational, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
    • Lead client review and approval of design packages, value engineering proposals, and technical deviations
    • Review and challenge EPCM cost forecasts, estimates, and cash flow projections
    • Ensure constructability, operability, maintainability, and future expansion considerations are embedded in the design
    • Monitor construction performance, safety, quality, and productivity via the EPCM contractor
  • Cost, Schedule, and Risk Management
    • Develop and manage the overall project execution plan, master schedule, and budget
    • Monitor performance against cost, schedule, and scope, implementing corrective actions as required
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including technical, commercial, and operational risks
    • Manage change control processes and ensure approvals are obtained in line with client governance
  • Health, Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Compliance
    • Champion a strong safety-first culture across all project activities
    • Ensure EPCM and construction contractors comply with all HSE, food safety, and process safety requirements
    • Ensure the project complies with regulatory, environmental, and corporate governance standards
    • Oversee quality assurance and inspection processes
  • Stakeholder and Interface Management
    • Manage interfaces between the EPCM firm, site operations, engineering, quality, maintenance, and leadership teams
    • Communicate regularly with senior stakeholders, providing clear progress, risk, and cost updates
    • Ensure minimal disruption to ongoing plant operations during construction activities
    • Maintain strict confidentiality throughout all phases of the project

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience managing large-scale capital projects (>€50MM, preferably >€100MM) on the client side
  • At least 15 years’ experience in process / chemical plant or industrial manufacturing projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing EPC/EPCM contractors
  • Strong understanding of cost control, scheduling, and risk management
  • Experience working within regulated manufacturing environments (food, beverage, chemicals, pharma, or similar)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience delivering projects in live operational facilities
  • Familiarity with commissioning, qualification, and validation processes
  • Strategic thinking and decision making
  • Commercial and contractual awareness
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage complexity and multiple interfaces
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion
  • Strong problem-solving skills
