Role Summary:

  • A new opportunity has arisen for a Compliance Design Engineer at our client’s facility in Co. Offaly.
  • The compliance Design Engineering Role is a pivotal position within the Operations Engineering function.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the regulatory compliance of all vehicles built on site, the testing and Certification programme, and ensuring all Continuity of Production Documentation is generated maintained and stored correctly.
  • Reports to Operations Manager.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To become the SME for all regulatory compliance and certification within the company
  • Ensure that all EWVTA testing is completed and maintained on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure that all relevant components are compliant with all other regulatory standards:
    • CEN
    • ISO 90001
    • EN140001
    • Master build Specifications
  • Preparation of compliance information and drawings for all Testing, Certification and Regulatory Compliance
  • Preparation of IVA applications and other regulatory paperwork
  • Ensuring that all builds comply with the Conformity of Production Requirements
  • Manage all COP Audits and ensure the factory is compliant on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure that all COP records are maintained and stored in a compliant manner
  • Responsible for assessing design failures during testing and working with the design team to identify more suitable Robust solutions that will meet the required standards economically
  • Assess all changes for impact on certification and tested results
  • Preparation of As-Built Drawings and Technical/Service Manuals on completion of project.
  • Preparation of Tender Drawings for new builds and assessing the testing requirements to maintain compliance.
  • Attending meetings with Customer and providing advice and direction on regulatory testing and the impact of changes:
  • Data compilation and analytical work using Excel spread sheets.
  • Determination of load balance on finished vehicles.
  • Preparation of IVA applications and other regulatory paperwork.
  • Project assignments as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience Required: 2/3 years.
  • The successful candidate must be proficient in the Solid Works 3D drawing package (Minimum 2 years’ experience).
  • Prior exposure to European Whole Vehicle Type Approval and/or CEN vehicle testing would be an advantage but not essential as it will be necessary for the successful candidate to come up to speed with the various standards which they carry out their conversions to (for example CEN 1789 2010, EWVTA)
  • Also prior experience of dealing with regulatory authorities such as TUV, NSAI, BS, VCA, etc. would be advantageous
  • As a member of the Vehicle Conversion Production team, the success of role depends on having good teamwork, in particular with the other areas of the company involved in Pre-production and production (Purchasing, Electrical, Planning, etc.)
  • Experienced in Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor (3D CAD) or similar.
  • High level of competence in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Power-point.
  • A high level of attention to detail required.
  • Conversant in email and attachment of data/photos etc.
  • Self-motivated well organized and good communicator.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new engineering environment and its regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of project management and an ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities is essential.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure team environment providing support and flexibility to other team members is essential.
