Role Summary:
- Our client, based in County Kilkenny, is looking for a Maintenance & Reliability Engineer to join the team at their medical device manufacturing site.
- The successful candidate will be responsible to stabilise and optimise maintenance performance across our client’s multi‑site FM contract by improving CMMS accuracy, strengthening preventive and predictive maintenance programmes, managing reactive maintenance effectively, and driving reliability improvements that reduce downtime, compliance risk, and operational firefighting.
- This role is central to ensuring the contract delivers consistent, compliant, and predictable asset performance.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
MMS Ownership & Data Quality
- Act as the primary owner of the CMMS for the account.
- Clean and maintain accurate asset registers, hierarchies, and location structures across all sites.
- Ensure PPM schedules reflect contractual requirements, statutory tasks, and manufacturer recommendations.
- Drive PPM compliance reporting and ensure overdue tasks are escalated and closed out.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Strengthen preventive maintenance plans to reduce reactive work and improve asset uptime.
- Introduce and manage predictive maintenance routines (vibration, thermography, condition inspections) for critical assets.
- Work with site teams to ensure maintenance tasks are completed correctly and recorded consistently.
Reactive Maintenance Control & Reduction
- Monitor and manage reactive work orders to ensure timely response and accurate close‑out.
- Analyse reactive trends to identify repeat failures, poor maintenance behaviours, or gaps in PPM strategy.
- Work with supervisors to ensure reactive jobs are prioritised correctly based on risk, compliance impact, and operational criticality.
- Convert high‑frequency reactive issues into structured improvement actions or updates to the PPM programme.
- Ensure all reactive work is logged with correct failure codes to support reliability analysis.
Reliability Analysis & Improvement
- Analyse breakdown trends, repeat failures, and asset performance issues across the contract.
- Lead root cause analysis for high‑impact failures and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Support the development of asset improvement plans focused on reducing downtime, improving compliance, and lowering cost risk.
- Maintain and update reliability KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, backlog, PPM compliance).
Asset Criticality & Risk Management
- Conduct and maintain asset criticality assessments for each site.
- Prioritise maintenance and improvement activities based on risk, compliance impact, and operational importance.
- Work with Ops and Engineering to ensure critical assets have appropriate maintenance strategies and spares.
Documentation, Procedures & Training
- Develop clear, practical maintenance procedures tailored to the equipment and site conditions.
- Produce training materials for technicians and supervisors on CMMS use, maintenance standards, and reliability practices.
- Support onboarding of new Ops Managers with asset and maintenance insights.
Spare Parts & Inventory Control
- Assist stores teams in maintaining critical spares lists, minimum stock levels, and obsolescence reviews.
- Ensure spare parts usage is recorded correctly in the CMMS to support cost tracking and reliability analysis.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Maintenance Supervisors, Ops Managers, Engineering, and Compliance teams to ensure maintenance activities align with contract priorities.
- Provide weekly updates on asset performance, risks, and improvement actions.
- Support site mobilisation, shutdown planning, and major maintenance events
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Essential
- Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Experience with CMMS administration, maintenance planning, or reliability engineering.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret maintenance data and turn it into actionable improvements.
- Excellent communication skills — able to work with technicians, supervisors, Ops Managers, and clients.
- Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance methodologies.
Highly Advantageous
- Experience in multi‑site FM or manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with statutory compliance tasks.
- Ability to simplify complex maintenance issues for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience stabilising maintenance operations during organisational change (e.g., Ops Manager transitions).
